Insurance premiums up 26% during first 5 months

Chinese insurers' contract premiums rose 26.1 percent year-on-year to reach 976.57 billion yuan ($158.4 billion) in the first five months of this year, according to data released by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission on Wednesday. Property insurance premiums increased 16.8 percent, while life insurance premiums surged 31 percent.
