Police credit alert citizens with putting halt to baby traffickers

By Qi Xin in Zhengzhou | China Daily | Updated: 2014-06-25 07:09

Police authorities applauded the alert citizen and netizens who helped in the successful rescue of a 22-day-old baby from suspected human traffickers on Monday morning.

Yin Ning, a resident of Zhengzhou, Henan province, found a woman holding an oddly covered baby on a train from Zhengzhou to Rizhao, Shandong province, on Sunday night. Though the train was very hot, the woman had dressed the baby in thick clothes and wrapped it in two blankets.

The woman claimed the baby was hers, but she fed the 22-day-old girl with cheap drinks instead of baby formula. The baby appeared to be suffering from serious jaundice, Yin said.
