Smart city forges into the future

The Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City is Guangzhou's bold move to build a "future city" and offer the world an alternative urban planning method, said Chen Yiping, a consultant for the Knowledge City Collaboration Office.

The knowledge city was one stop of the media tour for the event "Guangdong in the Eyes of Mainstream Media from Countries along the Maritime Silk Road". Photographers and journalists from India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and other countries visited the knowledge city on June 13.

The knowledge city's foundations were laid in 2010 and it is one of Singapore's three key projects in China. The other two projects - China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park and Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city are State-level cooperations, while the knowledge city is Guangdong province's endeavor.
