Tips yield scores of arrests

Police in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region have received more than 300 tips that have led to the capture of nine terrorist groups and one religious extremist group and the arrest of more than 60 suspects.

The suspects were found to have more than 160 explosive devices and 40 kilograms of raw materials for explosives.

After a series of terrorist attacks, especially one on May 22 in a morning marketplace in Urumqi that killed 39 people and injured 94, China has launched a national war against terrorism with the focus in Xinjiang.
