Hainan province's west ring railway will be up and running by the end of next year and will complete the island's high-speed railway circle, according to a recent news conference.
The 27.1-billion-yuan ($4.4 billion) west ring railway project started in September 2013.
The 345-km line has 17 stations and stretches across six cities and counties, which cover 40 percent of the area and 36 percent of the population in the province, representing around one-third of the provincial GDP.
