Friendship through Taiwan fair and food

Visitors and residents are being feted with a range of cuisines, specialties and creative products from Taiwan at a street fair in the plaza at Haicang in Xiamen city from June 13 to 17.

The scale of this year's fair, part of the sixth Straits Forum in Xiamen, set a record with 210 exhibition booths, 120 of them selling Taiwan's traditional foods and 50 showcasing souvenirs. Another 40 booths display southern Fujian's local cuisine.

The mild climate on the first day of the fair attracted crowds of interested visitors as vendors used posters and shouted to attract customers. Taiwan's pop music also blared from the booths.
