Li praises rural school for concept

By Xu Wei in Beijing and Cheng Hong in Taiyuan | China Daily | Updated: 2014-06-16 08:35

While most Chinese middle schools' emphasis is on preparing students for exams, a school in a mountainous area in Shanxi province is encouraging its students to combine their learning with rural practices.

Premier Li Keqiang hailed Lizhai Middle School in Zehou county for its efforts, in a letter published on Sunday.

Li first visited the school in 1984, when he was the alternate secretary for the Secretariat of the Central Committee for the Communist Youth League of China. He said during the visit that the school's teaching practices should be promoted nationwide.
