China's home-developed CRH380 series high-speed railway trains have traveled a combined distance of 400 billion km without any accidents, the equivalent of 10,000 laps around the globe, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The announcement was made at an event where a panel of 11 top scientists and two senior accountants examined the trains on June 7.
The development of home grown technologies for high-speed trains and equipment manufacturing are important parts of the national technology and railway administrations' joint innovation plan, said He Huawu, chief engineer of China Railway Group Ltd.
