Burden of care grows bigger

By Zhao Xinying | China Daily | Updated: 2014-05-31 07:51

In Hong Chuanmu's eyes, the reason parents choose boarding schools for their children has changed over the years.

"In the past, most parents sent their children to boarding schools just because they were too busy at work and didn't have time to take care of their children. Under such circumstances, sending children to boarding schools was an easy solution to save them time," says Hong, who is the director of the student affairs office at Beijing Royal School.

"But today, many parents, especially those who intend to send their children to study abroad after high school, choose us because they hope their children can learn to be independent, which they think will help them when they study overseas in the future."
