By Gao Bo in Urumqi | China Daily | Updated: 2014-05-30 06:51

While the funeral for a Muslim from the Hui ethnic group who was killed in the May 22 terrorist attack in Urumqi was being held at a local mosque on Thursday, the victims who survived the attack continued their search for those who helped them.

The search was initiated by a 62-year-old Uygur woman, Sharegul Shayit. During an interview, she expressed a desire to find the taxi driver who took her to a hospital after she was injured in the attack.

Sharegul was buying milk and red jujube at the morning market near her home along Gongyuanbei Road when two vehicles rushed into the crowd and people inside them threw explosives. She fell down and injured one of her arms. On her way home, a taxi driver of Han ethnicity picked her up and took her to a nearby hospital free of charge.
