Rainstorms hitting Guangdong province since May 15 have left seven people dead and four injured, local authorities said. A female primary school student and a man in his 70s died on Tuesday in two landslides in Huaiji county, according to the provincial civil affairs department. About 176,800 people were affected and more than 30,000 evacuated. A total of 673 houses collapsed, and 12,740 hectares of crops were affected with a direct economic loss of 396 million yuan ($64 million) as of Wednesday evening.
