Chinese engineer abducted, killed
The Chinese embassy in Libya confirmed on Wednesday that a Chinese engineer was killed in Benghazi, Libya's second-largest city. The victim, who worked for a Chinese construction company, was kidnapped from a work site along with two of his colleagues. He was later found with a gunshot wound and died at a hospital, a source with the company told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. The two colleagues were released.

About 30 dead in airstrikes
Pakistani military jet fighters and helicopter gunships bombed several militant hideouts in a northwestern tribal region near the Afghan border on Wednesday, killing about 30 militants, Pakistani officials said. The morning airstrikes in lawless North Waziristan mainly targeted the town of Mir Ali, a military officer and two intelligence officials told The Associated Press.

Modi invites Pakistani PM
Indian Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi has invited Pakistan's premier Nawaz Sharif as well as other South Asian leaders to his swearing-in ceremony on May 26, a spokeswoman for his party said. Nirmala Sitharaman, from the Bharatiya Janata Party, said all heads of government from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation "have been given invitations to be present".

Case for drones to be disclosed
The US government will disclose its legal justification for the use of drones against US citizens suspected of terrorism, a senior Obama administration official said on Tuesday.
