Tourism boost expected ahead of 2017 expo

Kazakhstan is appealing to more tourists as the country works with China and Kyrgyzstan to create a Silk Road corridor worthy of UNESCO World Heritage status.

The corridor would include 22 possible sites in China, eight in Kazakhstan and three in Kyrgyzstan.

The Astana Times reported that the bid is under initial evaluation and is due to be voted on at the next gathering of the World Heritage Committee in Doha, Qatar in the summer.
