Investigations of officials surging

The number of investigations into senior officials suspected of dereliction of duty is on the rise, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

Between January and March, national prosecutors investigated 2,245 cases of dereliction of duty or abuse of power - 10.2 percent more than the same period last year - involving 3,073 suspects.

Investigations are looking into 137 officials above the county level and 17 above the bureau level.
