IP protections 'still lagging'

Experts call for acceleration to catch up with the rest of the world

Despite tougher enforcement of intellectual property rights infringements, China remains in urgent need of improved legal and administrative measures to protect IP rights, experts said.

Observers have applauded the judicial system's increasingly firm stance against IP violations, and the imposition of tough new punishments but stressed that there remains a lot to be done before China develops into a strong IP country as called for by the central government.
