"Fewer people in Guangzhou want to become powerful persons since the central government has been making great efforts to introduce effective and concrete measures to prevent and fight corruption involving government officials, and to further standardize the operations of government departments and organizations."

Wang Jianping, the director of Youth Palace, said after the organization's survey found only 14.9 percent of the people surveyed hope to be officials in Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong province. The survey interviewed 900 young people aged 13 to 35 last month.
