President Xi Jinping said that long-term stability in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region is vital to the country's stability and national security.
Making the remarks during an inspection tour in Xinjiang that ended on Wednesday, Xi also said that China will employ a "strike-first" strategy against terrorists in the region to deter enemies and inspire people, Xinhua News Agency reported. It is his first visit to the region since becoming the top leader in November 2012.
