Experts say children can learn on own if given proper tools

Giving children tools and allowing them to explore knowledge and teach themselves is a more effective way of instruction, said educators from China and abroad.

Chris Rogers, a professor who teaches mechanical engineering at Tufts University in the United States, said that the best way to teach students is a combination of three methods: "telling, showing and enabling".

He was speaking in Beijing at an innovative education forum in late March.
