Big data awards talent

China Movie Channel, a TV network backed by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, announced the five Filmmakers in Focus on April 19 in Beijing, with its first effort to use big data to evaluate industrial trends. Actress-turned director Zhao Wei was named Director in Focus of 2013 for her directorial debut So Young. Lead actress Jiang Shuying in the film won the honor in the actress category. Rising actor Zheng Kai, supporting Ge You in Feng Xiaogang's Personal Tailor, was Jiang's male counterpart. Edko Films president Bill Kong was Producer in Focus while Fei Xing of Silent Witness the winner of the scriptwriting category. China Movie Channel honored the five industry leaders by studying a range of data, such as theater attendance, online promotion, investment return and feedback from audiences.
