Photo: Race-goers begin the 2014 UVU North Pole marathon on Thursday. The event takes place at a temperature of -30 C. Run over the classic 42.195 km marathon distance, it is described as the world's coldest marathon. Held at the top of the world, it is also the world's most remote marathon race. The men's race was won by Michael Wardian of the United States with a time of four hours, seven minutes and 40 seconds.
