School bus overturns, killing 8

Premier Li Keqiang urged rescuers and doctors in Hainan province to provide the best treatment and counseling to the 32 injured in a bus accident on Thursday morning that killed eight primary school students .

The bus, which was taking 43 students, two teachers and a driver on a trip from Chengmai county to Wenchang, overturned in Chengmai county at 11 am. Eight students were declared dead at the scene. Thirty students and two teachers were injured.

Xinhua News Agency on its official Weibo account reported that a 7-year-old survivor said the bus tried to make a turn before it overturned. Xincai School had organized the outing for 586 of its students using 14 buses, according to the county government.
