Affordable housing boost

The central government plans to spend 115.8 billion yuan ($18.7 billion) on affordable housing this year, the 21st Century Business Herald reported on Sunday. The special fund includes subsidies for low-rent housing, public rental departments and shantytown renovation. The amount is an increase of 14.3 percent from the money channeled to those programs last year.
