Provincial seat builds its culture

Every province has a capital city, but not every capital city has a cultural industry so prosperous that it is a source of pride for the locals.

Drawing on its rich traditions, the local government has lent support to related industries while hosting various well-organized festivals and activities with the hope that Changchun, Jilin province, will one day emerge as one of the nation's famous "cities of culture".

Starting in 2009, the government began to allocate 5 million yuan ($803,000) of special funds for the support of the industry to build it as a leader among the local emerging industries in development and boost the city's economy.
