The amount China has invested in educational facilities in rural areas since 2010, according to the Ministry of Education on Thursday. The money, equivalent to $5.8 billion, has been used to purchase books as well as improve teaching labs and multimedia teaching facilities for 165,200 primary and secondary schools. The ministry said it has been promoting education fairness by narrowing the gap between rural and urban education resources.
