Family drama launches HK film fest
Hong Kong director Pang Ho-Cheung's new film Aberdeen follows the ups and downs of three generations of a Hong Kong family. The film will open the 38th Hong Kong International Film Festival on March 24. Aberdeen is the central part of South Hong Kong and where the British landed to take Hong Kong. Pang believes the family embodies a microcosm of the city, with its contradictions between modernity and traditions, family and individuality. He gathers a star-studded cast, including Miriam Yeung, Eric Tsang and Gigi Leung, to present an extraordinary drama of an ordinary Hong Kong family. The film will be released in theaters on May 8.
