A closer look at the words

Today, the National People's Congress will vote to ratify the Government Work Report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang on March 5. In an analysis of an English translation of the report, China Daily stripped out figures, articles, conjunctions and prepositions to expose the most important words in it. From that condensed text, we then counted the number of times words-including variations-were repeated. For example, "develop", "develops" and "developed" are a part of the total for "development". What we found offers a new perspective on the themes and policies that defined China in 2013 and will shape what's ahead in 2014.
