Animation in 3-D

Los Angeles-based artist Jennifer Steinkamp is staging her debut exhibition in Hong Kong at the Lehmann Maupin gallery. It displays her latest 3-D animations, which project natural phenomena in a way to challenge viewers' preconceptions of space and form. Bouquet I, for example, presents an alluring effect by portraying a bouquet of flowers, which at the same time also looks like a looming forest with full-grown trees. The work shows the artist's continuing exploration to upend people's views about nature and the relationship with surrounding environments. Steinkamp, a pioneering 3-D animation artist, has been devoted to digital media for more than two decades.
