DPRK fires 4 'missiles'
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea fired four suspected short-range missiles into its eastern waters on Thursday, an ROK official said. An ROK Defense Ministry official said the DPRK fired four projectiles believed to be short-range missiles with a range of more than 200 km into the waters off its east coast. The official spoke anonymously citing department rules.

Joint drills with Russia scheduled
China confirmed on Thursday that it will conduct joint naval exercises with Russia this year, the third such drill involving the two neighbors. Details are still under discussion, Yang Yujun, spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, said at a monthly news conference. Russian media reported on Monday that the exercises, Naval Interaction-2014, will be held over several days in the East China Sea beginning at the end of May.

Detained man reads confession
A man described as a missionary from the Republic of Korea who was arrested in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in October said in Pyongyang on Thursday that he had been working for ROK intelligence. Kim Jeong-wook, detailed a number of "anti-government" activities as he read a statement.
