Embassy issues travel warning to Chinese
The Chinese embassy in Thailand issued a warning on Tuesday that Chinese citizens, especially tourists, should keep away from rally sites and surrounding areas in the Thai capital Bangkok. It was the fifth travel advisory issued by the embassy since the political unrest began in November 2013.
Chinese citizens are urged to avoid the Ratchaprasong area in Bangkok, where a number of popular tourist destinations are located, according to a statement posted on the embassy's website.
The embassy also asked Chinese citizens to keep clear of several other rally sites and surrounding areas in Bangkok, including the Government Complex, Government House, Lumpini Park, Sala Daeng, Asoke and Pathumwan.
Chinese citizens should monitor the situation in Thailand closely and protect themselves, the statement said, adding that the embassy is available for those who need help.
