Vice-FM to attend meeting

China Daily | Updated: 2014-02-18 07:49

Vice-Foreign Minister Li Baodong will lead the Chinese delegation at the Iran nuclear negotiations slated to start on Tuesday in Vienna, the Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.

Iran is set to hold the next round of talks in the Austrian capital with the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany - the so-called P5+1 group - to discuss a comprehensive, long-term nuclear agreement.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular news conference that the dialogue on Iran's nuclear program has entered a critical stage.

Achieving positive results will help maintain progress and cooperation and safeguard regional peace and stability, Hua said.

"China believes that dialogue and negotiations are the only path toward a solution in the Iran nuclear talks," she said.
