Car bomb killsseven at airport

Seven people were killed when a car bomb exploded on Thursday near the entrance of Mogadishu's heavily guarded international airport where many foreign diplomats are based, police said. Police suspect al Qaida-linked Islamist group al-Shabab of planting the remotely controlled bomb.

Good wishes for presidential run

Russian President Vladimir Putin has wished victory for Egypt's military chief in the nation's presidential vote. Putin said at the start of his meeting with Field Marshal Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi that he's aware of his decision to run for president and wished him success, according to Russian news reports.

Bus explosion claims 11 lives

An explosion targeting a bus full of Pakistani policemen killed 11 and injured 33 others near the southern port city of Karachi on Thursday, officials said, in the latest incident of violence while the government and the Taliban hold peace talks.
