Tikhonov carries on proud family legacy

Just six months after the tragic death of Vasili Tikhonov, Russian hockey's legendary Tikhonov family has one of its own to cheer for at the Sochi Games.

Viktor Tikhonov, 25, is carving out a name for himself in Russian hockey circles. When he is not representing his country in international competition, Tikhonov stars for SKA Saint Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League.

"A chance like this comes around once in our generation so it is definitely a big deal," Tikhonov said following the Russian team's first practice ahead of the start of the men's Olympic tournament on Wednesday.
