Customs officers working overtime to keep up with celebration

By Xu Wei in Shenzhen | China Daily | Updated: 2014-01-29 08:06

As Spring Festival approaches, quarantine and customs officers are making sure that trucks carrying agricultural products to Hong Kong pass through as quickly as possible while conducting strict checks.

Trucks loaded with pigs, fresh vegetables and flowers lined up at checkpoints separating Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

At the Wenjindu port in Shenzhen, around 500 cargo trucks carrying agricultural products pass through the checkpoints every day, providing about 80 percent of exports of vegetable, fruit, livestock and poultry to Hong Kong.
