Bell tolls for Sulaiman
Jose Sulaiman, who headed the World Boxing Council for four decades and introduced rules to protect boxers, died on Thursday. He was 82. Sulaiman's son, Mauricio Sulaiman, said the man who many credit with raising the profile of the sport during his leadership of the Mexico-based council died in Los Angeles, where he had been hospitalized for months for a heart condition. Over the years he introduced several new rules and regulations regarding boxers' safety and welfare, including reducing championship bouts from 15 rounds to 12.
