Buddhist outreach in Myanmar

A photo exhibition of Chinese Buddhists, Homage to the Buddha, continues through Jan 19 at Myanmar's famous Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. The exhibition aims to enhance ties between the two countries' Buddhist circles and peoples. A total of 65 religious photos of Buddhist monks and nuns from various monasteries in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, are displayed. The exhibition, organized by the Chinese embassy in Myanmar in cooperation with the board of trustee of the pagoda, is free. Buddhist cultural exchanges have become a highlight between the two countries. Last year, three Sakyamuni tooth-relic stupa replicas were donated by China to the Shwedagon Pagoda for public obeisance. At White Horse Temple of Luoyang, Henan province, a replica of Myanmar's landmark pagoda will be completed this year.
