Japan must respect history

Comment on "Time Japan owned up its war crimes" (China Daily, Dec 2)

The author has pointed out the crimes that Japan has committed during war in this article. History teaches people around the world a lesson: war is terrible. War makes human beings suffer and the aftermath leaves negative emotions. Peace is hard to maintain, which is why we value it so much. Peace can give us a good life so we must strive for it. Chinese people do feel disappointed that Japan's government has never fully expressed contrition and remorse to the victims, and has not taken moral responsibility for their countries' past crimes as Germany does. All people should respect history and atone for their wrongdoings in their past. Maybe the only thing we can do now is to let more people know that peace is so valuable that we must try our best to keep it.
