Inquiries from women about having a second child soared soon after the country announced its amendment to the family planning policy in early November.
To field the flood of questions, the Women's Hospital of Zhejiang University's School of Medicine opened a consultation clinic for women considering a second child on Nov 27. The clinic is the first of its kind in China since the central government adjusted its family planning policy, which will allow more couples to have two children.
Shangguan Xuejun, deputy director of the Medical Administration Department of the hospital and head of the consultation clinic, said the main function of the clinic is to provide medical advice to women about their chances of bearing a second child.
