Forum aims to protect children at risk

A forum recently held in Beijing was aimed at raising public awareness about "children in plight", orphans and children who are affected by poverty and severe disease. The forum, hosted by the Home and Children Research Center of Beijing Normal University and the China Association of Social Welfare, heard from local and international experts on child welfare and protection. The forum committee focused on eight major positive steps toward better child protection that occurred over the past year. The committee called for more policy improvements to better protect children, especially children abused by guardians.
