EPO bid to bridge legal systems and languages

New patent classification system and Chinese research function at European Patent Office, Wang Xin reports

China and Europe are continuing to strengthen ties in intellectual property, a senior European official told China Daily in late November.

Benoit Battistelli, president of the European Patent Office, said priorities in bilateral cooperation over next year will remain promoting use of the updated patent search engine Epoque and a new patent classification system, as well as improving automatic machine translation services. All are related to patent research.
