Program set to grow

Major League Baseball will continue to promote its MLB Ambassador program in an effort to further encourage Chinese fans of the sport, according to Xie Long, MLB China's managing director.

"Initiatives, such as Jeremy (Guthrie) coming to share his passion with our student players at the development center, are greatly welcomed by the students and the school," said Xie. "Jeremy has given them a tremendous example of how to become an excellent baseball player while maintaining great schoolwork levels. He sets a model for all of our MLB DC players and many other young Chinese."

Guthrie is the fourth major leaguer to visit China in the past five years.
