University seeks to better serve Shenzhen
A university should be closely connected to the region's economic and social development in order to have more resources and room for future development and better serve the growth of its host city, said Li Qingquan, the president of Shenzhen University.
"The development of a university should consider the balance of various disciplines, and the upgrade and transformation of the regional economy and industries," said Li, adding that SZU will have in-depth cooperation with industries in different districts in Shenzhen.
The university has ambitious plans. It set up an institute for industrial design in Yantian district in October and an innovation center in Longgang district. Together with the Nanshan district government, the university is building a research institute for industry technology. A business school will be also be built in Futian district.
