Tintin's adventures in diplomacy

By Liu Weifeng and Fu Chao | China Daily | Updated: 2013-11-15 07:42

When visitors to the embassy of Belgium in Beijing arrive, they are greeted by portraits of Tintin, a classic Belgian cartoon character.

Created in 1929 in the comic series The Adventures of Tintin, Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi's heroic reporter character welcomes visitors together with billboards honoring the lasting friendship between China and Belgium.

The picturesque backdrop of the elegant mansion sets the tone for a conversation with Belgian Ambassador to Beijing Michel Malherbe.
