Building bonds with overseas Chaoshan

Shantou will develop an experimental zone for economic and cultural cooperation to strengthen relationships with overseas Chinese thanks to the 5th East Guangdong Overseas Chinese Expo, according to the local government.

The city will sign contracts to construct 54 projects with total investment of 124.7 billion yuan ($20.44 billion) during the expo set to open on Friday.

Another 182 projects involving capital input of 75 billion yuan will soon begin construction, while 147 projects worth 14.6 billion yuan will soon become operational.
