Western alumna earns Nobel Prize in literature

On Oct 10, Alice Munro got the call that most writers wait a lifetime to hear but few ever do.

That day, the Nobel Prize committee rang the Canadian short story writer to tell her she had won the prize in literature.

She summed up her feelings in one word - "Unbelief".
