New arrest in gang rape case

Mumbai police on Sunday arrested the fifth and final member of a gang suspected of raping a photographer, a crime that reignited anger about women's safety in India following a similar attack last year. A Mumbai police team arrested the suspect in the capital, New Delhi, over the brutal attack on the woman as she was taking photographs in India's financial hub with a male colleague, a police official said.

Forces foil suicide attack

Yemeni security forces on Sunday foiled an attack by a would-be suicide bomber on an English-language school once linked to the US embassy in Sanaa. The assailant, 20, was caught after he hurled a grenade that failed to explode at the Yemen-America Language Institute in western Sanaa, the official said.

Amanda Knox won't return

Amanda Knox, the American student accused of the 2007 murder of her British roommate, will not return to Italy for a retrial due to begin next month, her lawyer told an Italian daily on Saturday.

Diplomat visits Chernobyl site

Japan's foreign minister travelled on Sunday to Chernobyl in Ukraine, to compare notes on relief efforts following Japan's own disaster at Fukushima, officials said. Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida's trip is "the first visit to Ukraine by a Japanese foreign minister over the past seven years", said a spokesperson for the Japanese embassy.
