Taobao clears dust over divorcing clients

By Zhou Wenting in Shanghai | China Daily | Updated: 2013-07-27 08:27

Couples who jointly own an online store on Taobao but are in the midst of a divorce no longer need to worry about who gets the spoils.

China's leading e-commerce platform is now allowing transfers of store ownership in the case of a divorce or death. Taobao said the service was put in place due to a high volume of requests from clients.

An online post that was forwarded to Sina Weibo titled, "How to Deal with Our Taobao Store After Divorce", received hundreds of thousands of responses from online vendors in January.
