Marathon bomb suspect in court
Accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was due in court on Wednesday (local time) to face charges in the worst mass-casualty attack on US soil since Sept 11, 2001. The 19-year-old ethnic Chechen was charged late last month with killing three people by setting off homemade pressure-cooker bombs, assembled by him and his older brother, in a crowd of thousands of race spectators on April 15.

Death toll from protests rises
A 19-year-old student who was hurt during anti-government protests that rocked Turkey last month has died from his injuries, bringing the death toll in the unrest to five, local media reported on Wednesday. Ali Ismail Korkmaz, who joined the demonstrations on June 2 in the Anatolian city of Eskisehir, suffered a brain hemorrhage when unidentified assailants attacked him while he was fleeing from tear gas.

Search for clues after train blast
Investigators sifted through the charred remains of Lac-Megantic's historic downtown early on Wednesday morning, searching for clues into what caused the disaster. Police said they are investigating whether Saturday's derailment and subsequent explosion.
