300 compete for Monkey King title

China Central Television's first traditional Chinese opera talent show, Monkey King's Title Bout, is running until the end of June. Monkey King, or Sun Wukong, is a central character in the classical Chinese epic novel Journey to the West. Monkey King's Title Bout has attracted more than 300 participants to compete for the title of Monkey King. Fifteen will enter the final competition. The competition's judging panel includes Ma Dehua, the actor who played Monkey King's companion Zhu Bajie in CCTV's popular TV drama Journey to the West, and German composer Robert Zollitsch, who wrote a song dedicated to the Monkey King.
