"We would like to sit down with the United States, communicate on the issues and discuss the formulation of international regulations to jointly safeguard peace, security, openness and cooperation in cyberspace."

Hong Lei, Foreign Ministry spokesman, said at a daily news briefing on Tuesday in response to a question claiming US governmental organizations and businesses have been victims of cyberattacks by the Chinese military. Hong said China has also been the victim of cyberattacks, yet China has never accused the US on the matter, adding that the US has thus far not provided solid proof of Chinese hacker attacks.
