After 26 years of unfathomable success, Sir Alex, Fergie or, as anyone not in the red half of that northern city would say, "effing illegitimate child" (or words to that effect), the 71-year-old managerial supremo has finally called it a day.

Given the fickle state of sports today, it's hard to see his achievements being even closely matched, let alone broken.
